The Metropolis of Detroit Philoptochos is very grateful to the Stefanou family for offering the Florence G. Stefanou Memorial Scholarship to a deserving young adult. There were many qualified applicants and the Stefanou family had a difficult task in choosing a recipient. Florence was a dedicated Philoptochos member on all levels, locally, Metropolis and National. She was a past Metropolis Philoptochos Board President.

2026 Scholarship Recipient
Eve Feles is a rising sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, where she is pursuing studies in Economic Strategy and Public Health. She grew up attending St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan, where she as developed a strong foundation in faith, leadership, and service.
During her senior year of high school, she served as the 2024-2025 GOYA President, leading youth programs and fostering engagement among other high school students in the parish. She was also honored as the 2025 Senior Division winner of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival at her church.
Building on her passion for leadership and advocacy, Eve was selected as a Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Girl Delegate to attend both the 68th and 69th Sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Through this program, she participated in international discussions focused on gender equality, education, health, and human rights while representing the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
At Washington University, Eve is Junior Analyst in the Student Investment Fund, a student-managed organization responsible for overseeing a portfolio valued at over $250,000. Through this experience, she has developed skills in investment research, financial analysis, and strategic decision-making.
This summer, Eve will continue serving others as a Waterfront Director at the Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp, where she will oversee waterfront activities and help create a safe, meaningful and memorable experience for campers over the course of six weeks.
Eve is deeply grateful to the Metropolis of Detroit Philoptochos and the Stefanou Family for selecting her as the recipient of the Florence G. Stefanou Memorial Scholarship. She is honored by this recognition and thankful for the support of a community that has played such an important role in her personal, academic, and spiritual growth.
